Tumē – atbalsta akcija «Airītēm»
Pēc 2007. gada 23. novembrī notikušā ugunsgrēka šobrīd lēni rit Oskara Kalpaka muzeja atjaunošana. Lai mudinātu šos darbus veikt raitāk, 9. februārī tumenieki rīko atbalsta akciju.
Kopš 1987. gada 8. novembra Tume un «Airītes» ir ļoti cieši saistītas, jo toreiz arī tumenieki, spītējot oficiālās varas nostājai, piedalījās pulkveža O. Kalpaka piemiņas vietas sakopšanā. Tādējādi parādot, ka viņiem ir svarīga šī Latvijas Republikas pirmā karaspēka virspavēlnieka piemiņa. Toreiz, ne tik viennozīmīgajā sabiedrības atmosfērā, tumenieku padarītais izraisīja garīgu viļņošanos un ne tikai Tumē vien.
Akcija notika pēc tumenieka Oskara Grīga iniciatīvas, vēl piedalījās tumenieki Raimonds Miltiņš, Juris Jurševics, Zaiga un Gatis Grīgi. Akciju atbalstīja arī tā laika Tumes gatera vadītājs Harijs Krauze.
Pēc akcijas Latvijas PSR Drošības komiteja rīkoja nosodījuma sapulces kolhozā «Dzimtene», kuras sasniedza pretēju mērķi - atbalstu izpelnījās akcijas organizētāji.
Gan atceroties 1987. gada notikumus, gan atbalstot muzeju atjaunošanu,
9. februārī 16.00 Tumes kultūras namā notiks labdarības koncerts par ziedojumiem. Koncertā piedalīsies: Tumes jauktais koris, vidējās paaudzes deju kolektīvs «Solis», sieviešu vokālais ansamblis, koris no Rīgas «Burtnieks» (diriģents Egils Lipšāns). Koncertā piedalīsies arī O. Kalpaka muzeja pārstāvji.
Oskars Kalpaks
* Dzimis 1882. gada 6. janvārī Meirānu pagastā lauksaimnieka ģimenē.
* 1906. gadā iestājās Krievijas armijā, 1908. gadā beidza Irkutskas kara skolu.
* Pirmā pasaules kara laikā komandēja rotu, bataljonu, pulku, apbalvots ar augstākajiem Krievijas ordeņiem (arī Sv. Jura krustu un Sv. Jura zobenu). 1917. gadā paaugstināts par apakšpulkvedi.
* Pēc lielinieku apvērsuma atgriezās Latvijā (1918. gads).
* 1919. gada 5. janvārī kļuva par Latviešu atsevišķā bataljona komandieri. Bataljonā bija 220 vīri. Janvārī izcīnījis vairākas nozīmīgas kaujas ar Sarkano Armiju. 28. februārī paaugstināts par pulkvedi.
* Gājis bojā 1919. gada 6. martā sadursmē ar vācu dzelzs divīziju - pie mājām «Airītes» tagadējā Saldus rajona Zirņu pagastā.
* Pēc nāves apbalvots ar Lāčplēša Kara ordeņa visām trim šķirām.
* Pēc neatkarības cīņu beigām sabiedriskās organizācijas par saziedotiem līdzekļiem sāka veidot «Airītēs» piemiņas vietu pulkvedim O. Kalpakam un pārējiem tur kritušajiem.
* 1922. gada 3. septembrī atklāts piemineklis O. Kalpakam.
* 1936. gada 6. septembrī atklāts O. Kalpaka piemiņas muzejs.
* 20. gadsimta 50. gadu sākumā padomju vara piemiņas ansambli iznīcināja.
* 1987. gada 8. novembrī sākta piemiņas vietas atjaunošana.
* 1988. gada 11. novembrī - atjaunotā piemiņas ansambļa atklāšana.
* 1989. gada 11. novembrī atklāja atjaunoto O. Kalpaka pieminekli.
* 1990. gada 11. novembrī durvis vēra atjaunotais pulkveža Kalpaka piemiņas muzejs.
* 2007. gada 23. novembrī «Airītēs» izcēlās ugunsgrēks.
